Project Spotlight – New Lenox Paver Patio and Fire Pit

Project Spotlight:

New Lenox Paver Patio Project

Last year we renovated this client’s pool deck by removing a cracked concrete patio and pool deck and replaced it with a new Unilock paver patio using Beacon Hill pavers in a 2-color blend of Sycamore and Bavarian Blend. This has been a popular combo and Beacon Hill is one of our favorite pavers: large size, small joints, and a nice pattern. This New Lenox paver patio combines lots of nice color and texture.

This year our client wanted to add a gas fire pit and extend their patio. Over the course of 3 days the crew removed the plantings, excavated the soil, installed 3/4″ gravel permeable base, 3/8″ chip paver base on top of that, and then finally installed the new Mattoni pavers. We love Mattoni! It has such a cool look, especially in this double herringbone and the colors available are stunning.

For this installation we used Mattoni in the sable blend color and laid the pavers on a 90 degree double herringbone pattern, then bordered it with a double row of Mattoni in the charcoal color. The fire table is Unilock Lineo with a single horizontal band of charcoal Mattoni followed by Ledgestone coping in buff color to cap it off. We filled the pit with black lava and installed a stainless steel natural gas burner with fire logs.

We’re betting this patio is going to be used a lot this coming season. It’s cozy and warm and a great spot to relax while watching swimmers, or to just settle in with a good book (or glass of wine). On really cold nights we can make it a little warmer with a Bromic portable propane heater or a permanently mounted electric or natural gas heater.
